SECOND EDITION IN PRESS · ARCHITECTURAL PREVIEW

Volume 1: The RAID-5 Shelf.

Building a Sovereign AI & Bare-Metal Fleet from First Principles — Completely Revised for the v2.2.0 Freestanding C99 & 32.5 MB DDR4 RAM-Boot Era.

📌 MARC’S HONESTY NOTE ON THE FIRST EDITION vs. SECOND EDITION

The original First Edition captured the early days of the studio shelf and my thinking that the readers had a higher technical ability than I should have assumed—back when our freestanding svc #0 shell only had its original 8 built-ins, long before the 88-binary userland, 32.5 MB DDR4 RAM-boot architecture, RAMGAK binary-search calibration, and the RP2350 Mayor node ever existed. Rather than selling you the First Edition under descriptions of new systems it doesn’t contain, we are officially recalling the First Edition and holding sales for the Second Edition—which documents the complete, verified v2.2.0 architecture from cover to cover. Because I personally know everyone who purchased the First Edition, every original buyer will receive a signed Author’s Copy of the Second Edition in the mail along with a thank-you card for your early support.

11 Chapters + 3 Technical Appendices

What’s Inside the Second Edition.

PART I // THE GREEN ZONE FOUNDATION
  • Ch. 1 — The Coastal Workshop & The RAID-5 Shelf: Why cloud subscriptions fail at the edge and how the md0 triple-drive vault anchors everything.
  • Ch. 2 — The Three Pillars: Honest, Auditable, Owned—enforcing zero hallucinated telemetry and zero third-party PKI.
  • Ch. 3 — The Vanilla Doctrine: Tearing out userland middleware and bloated wrappers in favor of raw kernel syscalls (svc #0).
PART II // THE SILICON DOCTRINE & RAMGAK
  • Ch. 4 — The 32.5 MB DDR4 RAM-Boot Ritual: Unmounting physical flash at PID 1 so Step 2 is the permanent runtime state.
  • Ch. 5 — Inside axis-init.c & axis-syscalls.c: Line-by-line walkthrough of our freestanding ARM64 C99 userland.
  • Ch. 6 — RAMGAK Binary-Search Calibration: Proving exact hardware memory ceilings in 12–16 steps with O(log₂ N) convergence.
PART III // THE TRIAD & MAYOR NODE 001
  • Ch. 7 — Zero (:8081), Lite (:8080), & Axis-Agent (:8082): Splitting executive memory, routing, and hardware execution across dedicated ports.
  • Ch. 8 — Node 001 (The Mayor) on RP2350: Dual-homed 10.10.0.35 / 192.168.1.35 telemetry and UDP :50000 mesh heartbeats.
  • Ch. 9 — Out-of-Band Safewords & Physical Kill Switches: Why local air-gap control beats cloud certificates every time.
PART IV // THE PERSISTENCE RITUAL & FIELD OPS
  • Ch. 10 — Intentional Checkpointing (/bin/axis-checkpoint): Committing state on operator command with zero background flash wear.
  • Ch. 11 — The 12-Step Field Verification Checklist: Auditable commands you can run directly on any AxisOS™ node.
  • Appendices A–C: Complete syscall table, GPIO header pinouts, and SHA256SUMS verification workflows.
AxisOS™ — Chapter 4 Excerpt: Verifying Zero-Disk Execution in RAM
// Verify from the live AxisOS™ prompt that no physical block device is mounted rw:
marc@AxisOS:$ mount | grep mmcblk0
[0 mounted partitions — physical micro-SD card is 100% idle & power-pull immune]

marc@AxisOS:# /bin/axis-checkpoint --dry-run
[OK] RAM state verified against Curated Vault manifest. Zero background flash writes.
